THE PROBLEM
UK-based not-for-profit with extremely limited resources and budget – it’s a story we’re very familiar with. In this case, Africa Water Charity was trying to do their bit for displaced communities in the Horn of Africa, and barely raising 30K a year.
Their personal networks were drying up rapidly, and they needed to reach more people. They wanted to get into digital fundraising. But where to start? Their website was poor, and they had no history of any digital activity and no experience.
OUR SOLUTION
In the first 12 months, we worked with Africa Water Charity to help get their basics in place. First, we drew up a ‘website recommendations and implementation’ plan to address basic issues. This covered layout, design, user journey, content, and donation processes. We also worked with them to create their annual campaign schedule.
We then helped them develop assets, like blogs, articles and basic videos, which they could use to support their marketing year-round and for key campaign periods. After addressing these basic issues, we started running campaigns to generate visitors to their site and testing their behaviour. Over time, all this helped to improve their online visibility and rankings.
THE OUTCOME
Africa Water Charity tripled their income and raised 100K through digital, just after those first 12 months, and was getting a steady flow of website visitors and income. Eventually, we started doing more advanced, paid campaigns for them. Today, Africa Water Charity has a wide supporter base of regular donors and is growing every year.
